Triple-Trailer Truck Crosses I-84 Median, Driver Arrested After Crash

A triple-trailer semi crossed the median on I-84 in Oregon and entered oncoming traffic, leaving one passenger seriously injured and shutting down westbound traffic for about eight hours.

Oregon State Police said the crash happened around 6:49 a.m. September 24 near Arlington. One of the trailers struck an oncoming Ford Edge, sending the SUV over the guardrail. The truck driver and SUV driver suffered minor injuries, while a passenger in the semi was seriously injured.

After receiving medical treatment, the truck driver was arrested on charges of DUII, reckless driving, recklessly endangering another person and fourth-degree assault.

Investigators have not determined why the truck initially left its lane.
