No ABS on This Trailer

Look at the ABS cable hanging next to the trailer tires. The cable is disconnected, and the trailer ABS is not working. The regular brakes may still work, but without ABS, the wheels can lock up during hard braking. This problem needs to be fixed before the trailer goes back on the road.

Apples in Washington State

Washington has so many apples that piles of them are already being dumped along the roadside. Some have started to rot, while others still look perfectly fine. Washington is famous for its apples, but seeing this many thrown away is still surprising.

Stopped at Love’s in Post Falls, Idaho, for fuel and had a great surprise—I got to meet the founder of CDLCrew.com

We talked trucking, especially the differences between Canada and the USA, something I experience firsthand as a cross-border driver. It was great sharing stories and perspectives from both sides of the border. And of course, I couldn’t leave without noticing a beautiful Peterbilt sitting at the stop. 🚛🔥 Just another memorable moment from life on the road. 🇨🇦🇺🇸

I’ve never seen a Love’s this empty

Somewhere in Montana, there were plenty of open truck parking spaces in the middle of the day. Usually finding a spot is the problem — here, you could take your pick.

Diesel at $7.18 in Washington

Diesel is getting expensive again. I spotted Diesel #2 at $7.18 per gallon at a Love’s in Washington. At that price, filling a truck with 150 gallons costs $1,077. For owner-operators, fuel prices like this can take a big bite out of every load.

Check those chains

Saw this truck and noticed the chains hanging low. It reminded me of those highway warnings: dragging chains can create sparks and start fires.

One minute left

Nailed it. When your HOS clock says 0:01, that’s not running out of time — that’s professional trip planning.

Beauty even among the trash

I stopped at a highway exit where trucks pull over for a break or stay overnight. Bottles, bags, and other trash were everywhere. And right in the middle of it all, a flower was growing. Sometimes nature reminds us that beauty can still grow where people leave a mess behind. Drivers, respect the place where you stop. When you leave, take your trash with you.

Old roadside cafe in Hampton, Oregon

Stopped along US-20 and spotted this old cafe. Places like this have a lot of character and make you wonder how many truck drivers and travelers have stopped here over the years.

Montanans Helping Montanans

I spotted this name on a tanker in Glendive, Montana. Simple words, but they say a lot. It definitely caught my attention at the truck stop.

Giant pickles for $1.99

Stopped at the Flying J/Town Pump in Glendive, Montana, and saw these giant pickles for $1.99 each. Truck stop food always has something interesting. Would you grab one for the road?

$1,023.62 for one fill-up

Put 175 gallons of diesel in the truck today and watched the total pass $1,000. Fuel is one of the biggest expenses for truck drivers and owner-operators, and numbers like this show how quickly the cost adds up.

Two bananas for $2

Stopped at Love’s in Valley City, North Dakota, and had to look twice at the price. Two bananas for $2 at a truck stop. What do truck drivers think — normal price or too much?
