Kentucky Fast-Tracks CDLs for Veterans and Active-Duty Military

Kentucky is making it easier for eligible veterans and active-duty military members to move from military driving into civilian trucking.

Governor Andy Beshear signed an emergency regulation expanding the state's military CDL skills-test waiver. Qualified applicants with recent experience operating military vehicles comparable to commercial trucks can use that experience to waive the CDL skills test.

The change extends the eligible military driving experience window from one year to two years, following a federal waiver issued by FMCSA earlier this year.

The emergency regulation took effect immediately on September 29.
