CBP Seeks Nine Trucking Carriers for New Electronic Border Program

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is looking for nine trucking carriers to test a new electronic export manifest system for trucks crossing the U.S. border.

Under the voluntary program, participating carriers will submit limited cargo information electronically at least 24 hours before leaving the United States. A complete export manifest must then be filed no later than two hours before reaching the final port of export.

The test begins October 23 and is expected to run for about two years. Carriers of any size, location or commodity type can apply, but they must be able to submit information electronically through CBP’s Automated Commercial Environment (ACE).

CBP will consider applications in the order they are received and will stop accepting participants once nine qualified carriers have been selected.
