U.S. Sanctions Mexican Trucking Company Linked to Cocaine Smuggling

On October 13, 2026, the U.S. Treasury Department announced sanctions against Tamex Leasing, also known as Tamex Logistics, a trucking company based in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico.

According to U.S. authorities, at least two cocaine shipments originated from the company's truckyard. Investigators discovered a total of 52 kilograms of cocaine hidden inside compartments in the trailers' brake drums.

The Treasury Department also sanctioned Francisco Javier Inzunza Partida, a dispatcher involved in arranging the movement of the two trailers.

The action targeted four individuals and 11 businesses connected to Cartel del Noreste, a Mexican criminal organization involved in drug trafficking and other illegal activities.

What This Means for CDL Drivers

Truck drivers and owner-operators hauling freight across the U.S.–Mexico border should pay attention to the companies involved in their shipments.

U.S. sanctions can prohibit transactions with designated companies, including Tamex Logistics.

Drivers working on cross-border routes should verify their business partners and report suspicious cargo or unusual shipping instructions.
