U.S. Changes Tariffs on Canadian Goods

By CDLCrewEditorial standards

Some Canadian imports will face different tariffs next week.

On October 23, 2026, the White House announced changes to the list of Canadian products subject to an additional 50% U.S. tariff.

Certain plywood, paper products, machinery, refrigeration equipment, and packing materials will be removed from the list.

Some valves, carpets, waste products, and other goods will be added.

The changes take effect October 30, 2026.

The 50% tariff applies to specific products, not every shipment entering the United States from Canada.

What This Means for CDL Drivers

Truck drivers hauling freight between Canada and the United States could see changes in demand for certain loads.

The new tariff list does not change CDL driving rules.
