U.S. Diesel Prices Hit Record High

Diesel prices have climbed to record territory, adding more fuel-cost pressure for truck drivers and carriers across the country.

AAA's national retail diesel average reached $5.85 per gallon on September 4, surpassing the previous nominal record from 2022. The latest EIA weekly average was $5.599 per gallon as of August 31.

Prices vary significantly by region. EIA reported an average of $6.497 on the West Coast and $7.218 in California, compared with $5.360 on the Gulf Coast.
