U.S. Adds Duties on Chinese Trailers

By CDLCrewEditorial standards

Buying certain new trailers imported from China could become more expensive.

On October 28, 2026, the U.S. Department of Commerce issued new antidumping and countervailing duty orders on certain van-type trailers and trailer parts from China.

The orders list a 129.73% antidumping cash deposit rate for the China-wide category, plus a 134.75% countervailing duty deposit rate.

The covered equipment includes certain enclosed Dry Van and Reefer trailers rated over 26,000 pounds GVWR, along with specified trailer assemblies and parts.

What This Means for CDL Drivers

Owner-operators and trucking companies shopping for new trailers could see changes in equipment prices and availability.

These are import duties paid through the customs process, not a new charge on drivers or trailers already on the road.
