New Lawsuit Over New York CDL Records

A new court case is challenging New York's refusal to release CDL licensing records.
The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) filed a lawsuit against the New York DMV on October 26, 2026, and announced it on October 28.
FAIR wants statistics showing how many CDL knowledge tests were given in languages other than English, their pass rates, and how many non-domiciled CDLs were issued.
The DMV denied the records request. FAIR argues the information should be released under New York's Freedom of Information Law.
The court has not ruled on the case.
What This Means for CDL Drivers
This lawsuit concerns access to licensing information. It does not change CDL requirements or cancel anyone's license.
