Charger Plans 500 Driverless Trucks

By CDLCrewEditorial standards

Charger Logistics is planning a major expansion into driverless trucking.

On October 26, 2026, Aurora Innovation announced a preliminary agreement with Charger Logistics to purchase up to 500 self-driving trucks.

The trucks could be delivered during 2027 and 2028 and used on freight routes near the U.S.-Mexico border and across the country.

But the agreement is not binding. Charger has not placed a confirmed order for all 500 trucks.

What This Means for CDL Drivers

Driverless trucking is moving closer to larger commercial fleets. It could change how some long-haul freight is moved in the future.

Neither company announced specific driver job cuts.
