Mexico's Heavy Truck Exports Surge 145% as U.S. Demand Grows
Mexico's heavy truck exports jumped in September 2026. According to official data released by Mexico's statistics agency INEGI on October 9, exports of heavy commercial vehicles increased 144.6% compared with September 2025.
Mexican manufacturers exported 12,707 heavy vehicles during the month, compared with 5,196 a year earlier. Production also increased 121.4%, reaching 15,181 vehicles.
The United States remains the main destination for Mexican-made heavy trucks.
Why Truck Exports Are Rising
According to industry association ANPACT, part of the increase comes from U.S. buyers ordering trucks ahead of changes to EPA emissions standards for 2027-model-year heavy-duty engines.
Manufacturers are increasing production while customers prepare for possible changes in truck prices and equipment requirements.
What This Means for CDL Drivers
Owner-operators and trucking companies planning to purchase new trucks should watch 2027 model specifications, prices, and delivery schedules.
The export increase does not mean trucking rates or driver pay will rise. It shows stronger demand for new equipment, not necessarily more freight to haul.
