Four Arrested in California for Stealing Diesel From Parked Trucks

Four men were arrested in Ventura County, California, on October 13, 2026, following an investigation into diesel fuel thefts from commercial trucks.

According to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, investigators connected the suspects to several thefts in Oxnard, Camarillo, and Thousand Oaks.

In four incidents dating back to August, approximately 315 gallons of diesel were stolen, causing an estimated $3,330 in losses.

The investigation began after a truck driver reported that about 70 gallons of diesel had been stolen from his semi-truck at a commercial truck storage yard in Oxnard.

On October 13, detectives caught the suspects siphoning diesel from a parked Freightliner in Thousand Oaks.

Inside their van, investigators found two 1,200-gallon fuel tanks and pumping equipment.

What This Means for CDL Drivers

Fuel theft can leave truck drivers with unexpected expenses, delays, and missed deliveries.

Even locked fuel caps may not prevent theft. In one reported incident, a locking cap was broken.

Drivers parking overnight should pay attention to suspicious vehicles near their trucks, especially in unattended parking areas.
