Thieves Steal $150 Million in AI Equipment
Cargo thieves are going after expensive electronics.
On October 21, 2026, cargo security company Overhaul reported that more than $150 million in AI equipment had been stolen this year.
The stolen goods include computer chips, servers, and equipment used in data centers.
According to Overhaul, thefts of this type of equipment have increased 34% since 2024.
And here's the scary part.
In 92% of the high-value technology thefts studied, criminals used tricks instead of force.
They used fake carrier information, stolen company identities, false paperwork, and freight scams to get control of loads.
What This Means for CDL Drivers
If you're hauling expensive electronics, cargo thieves may be targeting your load.
Drivers and trucking companies should double-check pickup instructions, broker information, and any unexpected delivery changes.
Even a real MC number can be used by someone pretending to be a legitimate carrier.
