Daytona Beach Warns Drivers of Strict Enforcement During Truck Gathering

Drivers heading through Daytona Beach this weekend should expect heavier traffic and increased police enforcement because of an unauthorized truck gathering.

A special event zone will be in effect from 6 a.m. October 3 until 6 a.m. October 4. The zone covers part of the beachside area between University Boulevard and Silver Beach Avenue.

Traffic fines for violations inside a special event zone can be doubled. Police also have authority to impound vehicles for up to 72 hours for certain traffic violations.

Authorities are warning drivers to expect increased vehicle and pedestrian traffic and allow extra time when traveling through the area.
