Washington Targets Fatigued Truck Drivers on I-5

Truck drivers on a section of I-5 in Washington will see increased enforcement focused on driver fatigue this fall and winter.
Washington State Patrol troopers and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officers will conduct emphasis patrols between mileposts 100 and 111 in Thurston County.
Two patrols are planned each month. The first are scheduled for October 7 and October 22. Officers will watch commercial drivers for signs of fatigue while also looking for traffic and equipment violations.
WSP says fatigue can reduce alertness, reaction time and decision-making, increasing the risk of serious crashes.
