U.S. Releases 315,000 Barrels of Heating Oil

By CDLCrewEditorial standards

Fuel supplies are tight in the Northeast.

On October 21, 2026, the U.S. Department of Energy announced plans to make up to 315,000 barrels of fuel available from its emergency heating oil reserve.

The move comes after supply problems in the Northeast.

The fuel is stored at three locations: South Portland, Maine; Boston, Massachusetts; and New Haven, Connecticut.

Fuel companies have until October 27 to submit their offers.

The government plans to complete fuel deliveries by November 13, 2026.

Companies receiving the fuel must return the same amount later, plus extra fuel.

What This Means for CDL Drivers

The move could help ease fuel supply problems in the Northeast.

However, the reserve is mainly intended for home heating oil.

It does not guarantee lower diesel prices at truck stops.
