Trailer Orders Jump 311%

By CDLCrewEditorial standards

Truck fleets are ordering trailers again!

ACT Research reported a big jump in new trailer orders on October 19, 2026.

U.S. companies ordered an estimated 42,700 new trailers in September.

That's 311% more than in September 2025 and 75% more than in August 2026.

Why the sudden jump?

Some trucking companies want to replace old trailers. Others are ordering early because new equipment could become more expensive.

ACT Research also says better business conditions are giving some carriers more confidence to buy equipment.

But there is something important to remember.

Trailer orders were very low last year. That makes this year's increase look especially large.

These are orders, not trailers already delivered.

What This Means for CDL Drivers

More trailer orders show that trucking companies are spending money on equipment again.

That's a positive sign.

But it doesn't mean freight loads or driver pay have increased by 311%.
