Police Target Tired Truck Drivers on I-5

Washington State Patrol is increasing inspections of commercial truck drivers on Interstate 5.

Police announced special patrols in Thurston County to identify drivers who may be operating trucks while tired.

The inspections take place between mile markers 100 and 111.

Scheduled November patrols are November 3 and November 24, 2026. Additional inspections are planned for December 2 and 15.

Troopers and commercial vehicle officers will also look for traffic and equipment violations.

Police say driver fatigue is a serious cause of commercial vehicle crashes.
