Motorcyclist Dies in Crash With Semi-Truck

A 21-year-old motorcyclist died after colliding with a semi-truck pulling two trailers in Idaho.

The crash happened on October 30, 2026, around 12:47 PM on State Street near 3600 South in Preston, Idaho.

According to Idaho State Police, a 65-year-old truck driver from Utah was driving a 2016 Kenworth with double trailers.

The truck moved into the opposite lane to make a wide right turn.

A motorcyclist riding behind the truck attempted to pass on the right.

As the truck made its turn, the motorcycle and semi collided.

The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Police reported that the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet, but the truck driver was not wearing a seat belt.

The road was blocked for nearly three hours.

The crash remains under investigation.

What This Means for CDL Drivers

Trucks pulling double trailers need extra room to make wide turns.

Motorcycles and cars can sometimes attempt to pass on the right, creating a dangerous situation.

Drivers should check their mirrors and blind spots carefully before turning.
