Great Dane Recalls 6,810 Trailers

By CDLCrewEditorial standards

A trailer could collapse while parked!

Great Dane is recalling 6,810 Champion dry van and Everest refrigerated trailers because of a dangerous welding problem.

The recall affects certain 2027 model-year trailers.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), welds on the K-brace that supports the landing gear may be weak.

If a trailer is disconnected from a truck and parked without additional safety stands, its landing gear could collapse.

The risk is especially serious during loading and unloading or if another trailer bumps into it.

One warning sign is landing gear legs that are not standing straight.

Great Dane discovered two failures during factory inspections. The company says it has not received reports of injuries related to this problem.

Authorized repair shops will inspect the landing gear and replace defective K-braces free of charge.

Owner notification letters are scheduled to be mailed by December 22, 2026.

What This Means for CDL Drivers

If you pull a newer Great Dane Champion or Everest trailer, check whether it is included in recall 26V708.

Pay attention to landing gear that looks crooked.

Do not ignore damaged support legs. A trailer collapse could seriously injure someone standing nearby.
