Commercial Vehicle Inspections Find More Than 9,400 Violations in One Month

Hundreds of truck drivers and commercial vehicles were ordered out of service during a month of enforcement activity that included nearly 4,800 inspections.

Between July 15 and August 15, commercial vehicle enforcement officers completed 4,770 inspections and identified 9,455 violations.

The enforcement resulted in 608 drivers and 655 commercial motor vehicles being placed out of service.

The results also included 452 oversize violations, 234 overweight violations, and 242 violations for failure to obey traffic control devices.

The number of violations increased compared with the previous reporting period. From June 15 through July 15, officers conducted 4,703 inspections and found 8,650 violations.

Commercial vehicle enforcement includes checks for compliance with equipment requirements, hours-of-service regulations, size and weight limits, and other state and federal safety rules.
