$426 Million Going to Improve Major Truck Routes

Some of America’s busiest truck routes are getting major upgrades.

The U.S. Department of Transportation announced $426 million in federal funding on October 1 for 12 infrastructure projects across 12 states. The projects are aimed at improving major freight corridors, reducing bottlenecks and increasing road capacity.

One of the largest awards is $85 million for Florida. The project will add one lane in each direction along roughly 20 miles of I-4 between State Road 434 and State Road 472.

For truck drivers, the improvements could eventually mean fewer bottlenecks and better traffic flow on important freight routes, although construction may bring temporary work zones and delays.
