DMV Boss Jailed for CDL Exam Scam

A former New York DMV supervisor is going to jail for helping people cheat on CDL exams.
On October 28, 2026, Kanaisha Middleton was sentenced to one year in jail for running a cheating scheme at the Garden City DMV office.
According to prosecutors, she helped her sister take CDL permit exams for people who never showed up.
Her sister wore different disguises, including face masks, baggy clothes, construction jackets, and fake facial hair.
She took nine CDL exams for seven people and passed eight of them.
One applicant later received a full CDL and used it to drive recycling trucks for a local sanitation department.
The scheme happened in 2023, but the former supervisor received her sentence this October.
What This Means for CDL Drivers
Getting a CDL is supposed to require real testing.
This case shows how cheating at a DMV office can allow people to obtain commercial driving permits without passing their own exams.
The former supervisor received one year in jail, while several other people involved in the scheme also faced criminal charges.
