Six States to Increase Traffic Enforcement and Truck Inspections October 13–15

Massachusetts State Police will assign 30 troopers from its Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section to inspect trucks, buses, and other commercial vehicles during a three-day enforcement operation.
Operation Wicked Safe will take place October 13–15, 2026, across Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont. State police agencies will coordinate patrols targeting dangerous driving.
In Massachusetts, increased enforcement will focus on major highways, including I-90, I-91, I-84, I-93, I-95, and I-395. Officers will target speeding, distracted driving, aggressive driving, impaired driving, and other unsafe behavior.
The operation is intended to improve highway safety during a busy fall travel period. It does not introduce new federal CDL regulations.
What This Means for CDL Drivers
Truck drivers traveling through these six states should expect increased police activity and possible commercial vehicle inspections from October 13 through October 15.
Before entering the region, drivers should make sure their CDL, medical certification, ELD records, and required vehicle inspection documents are in order. Pay particular attention to speed limits, following distances, and federal restrictions on handheld phone use.
The operation does not change existing trucking regulations, but violations discovered during inspections may still result in citations or vehicles being placed out of service.
