Long Beach Port Sets Cargo Record

On October 15, 2026, the Port of Long Beach in California announced a new monthly cargo record.
The port handled 997,177 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in September, an increase of 25% compared with September 2025.
Imports rose 31.3% to 509,390 TEUs.
The port also announced additional evening and Saturday terminal gate hours beginning in late October.
The extended schedule will run for six weeks, excluding Thanksgiving week.
The changes are intended to help trucking operations prepare for the planned November 7 closure of the Vincent Thomas Bridge near the Port of Los Angeles.
What This Means for CDL Drivers
Container truck drivers and owner-operators will have additional opportunities to pick up and deliver containers during evening and weekend hours.
The extended hours may help reduce congestion as traffic patterns change during the bridge reconstruction.
Drivers should check with individual terminal operators for specific gate schedules.
