Used Class 8 Truck Prices Drop

By CDLCrewEditorial standards

Used trucks got a little cheaper in September.

On October 23, 2026, ACT Research released its final report on used Class 8 truck sales for September.

Retail sales at comparable dealerships dropped 5.7% compared with August.

The average selling price fell 1.9% to $64,007.

But compared with September 2025, sales were up 6%, and prices were still 12% higher.

The trucks sold also had higher average mileage and age, which contributed to lower prices.

What This Means for CDL Drivers

Owner-operators shopping for a used semi-truck may find slightly better prices.

But used Class 8 trucks still cost more than they did a year ago. Check the truck's mileage, maintenance history, and condition before buying.
