Ohio Suspends 47¢ Diesel Tax for 90 Days

Diesel just got a major tax break in Ohio.
Governor Mike DeWine signed legislation temporarily suspending Ohio’s state motor fuel tax for 90 days. The tax is currently 47 cents per gallon for diesel and 38.5 cents per gallon for gasoline.
For truckers, the difference can be significant. At the current diesel tax rate, 200 gallons represents $94 in Ohio state fuel tax. Federal fuel taxes remain in place.
Interstate carriers should also remember that IFTA tax calculations may affect the final savings depending on where fuel is purchased and miles are traveled.
The temporary suspension is expected to save fuel buyers across Ohio more than $725 million.
