Nebraska Allows Heavier Fuel Trucks

Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen issued Executive Order 26-25 on October 19, 2026, to help address fuel shortages across the state.
Fuel distributors have reported supply problems, forcing truck drivers to travel longer distances to deliver gasoline and diesel.
The order temporarily relaxes certain Hours of Service (HOS) rules and allows qualifying fuel trucks to exceed normal weight limits by up to 10%.
The changes are intended to help fuel reach farms, businesses, and gas stations during a period of high demand.
The order remains effective through November 18, 2026.
What This Means for CDL Drivers
Drivers hauling gasoline and diesel in Nebraska may qualify for temporary HOS and weight-limit relief.
The exemption does not apply to all commercial trucks. Drivers must follow the conditions of the executive order and any remaining safety requirements.
