Missouri Allows All Trucks to Use Red-Dyed Diesel Through December 31

Missouri has expanded its temporary fuel exemption to all commercial trucks, not just agricultural vehicles. Governor Mike Kehoe signed Executive Order 26-20 on October 9, 2026.

The order temporarily suspends Missouri's restrictions and penalties for using red-dyed diesel on public highways. It took effect on October 9 and remains valid through December 31, 2026.

What This Means for CDL Drivers

Truck drivers and carriers operating in Missouri can use red-dyed diesel under the temporary state exemption, regardless of the freight they carry. However, federal fuel tax requirements still apply, and drivers crossing state lines must follow the rules of other states.

The order also extends a 90,000-pound weight allowance for qualifying six-axle agricultural trucks. This exemption does not apply to Interstate highways.
