Trucking Lawsuits Reach Millions
A new U.S. Chamber of Commerce report highlights the growing cost of lawsuits involving commercial truck accidents.
The study reviewed 334 truck accident verdicts and settlements from June 2023 through July 2026.
The average amount was $16.8 million. Jury verdicts favoring plaintiffs averaged nearly $28 million.
The report also examines staged truck accidents, fraudulent claims, and rising insurance costs.
What This Means for CDL Drivers
Large lawsuits can increase insurance costs for trucking companies and owner-operators. Small carriers face especially serious financial risks.
These figures represent cases reviewed in the study, not the average cost of every truck accident.
