Marten Freight Rates Jump 14.1%

By CDLCrewEditorial standards

One trucking company is getting higher freight rates.

On October 22, 2026, Marten Transport reported its financial results for the third quarter.

The company's average Truckload rate per mile, excluding fuel surcharges, increased 14.1% compared with the same quarter last year.

Revenue reached $223.2 million, while net income was $2.9 million.

Marten says the freight market has become tighter as stronger enforcement removes some drivers and carriers that do not meet federal and state requirements.

The company is also spending more on diesel, health insurance, and driver pay.

What This Means for CDL Drivers

Higher freight rates could be a positive sign for the trucking industry.

But this increase applies to Marten's Truckload business. It does not mean all trucking rates or driver wages increased by 14.1%.
