Iowa Catches Truck Drivers Watching Videos on I-80

Some truck drivers were watching videos while driving on I-80.

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office and Iowa State Patrol conducted a distracted-driving enforcement operation in Jasper County on September 30. Officers issued nine citations specifically for distracted driving.

Authorities said the majority of those violations involved commercial drivers actively watching video streams on dashboard-mounted electronic devices while driving.

Officers also conducted three commercial vehicle inspections, placed one vehicle out of service for safety violations and issued 60 warnings for equipment violations and improper driving maneuvers.
