Heartland Express Returns to Profit
Heartland Express reported a return to profitability in its third-quarter 2026 financial results.
The trucking company announced on October 20 that it earned $1 million in net income during the quarter.
That compares with a net loss of $8.3 million during the same period in 2025.
Quarterly revenue was $179.5 million, down from $196.5 million a year earlier.
Despite lower revenue, Heartland reported stronger freight volumes and improved customer pricing as trucking industry capacity declined.
The company also said rising diesel prices, maintenance expenses, and employee-related costs continued to affect operations.
Heartland expects to continue investing in its truck and trailer fleet during the remainder of 2026.
What This Means for CDL Drivers
The results suggest that some large trucking companies are seeing better freight conditions after a difficult period.
However, rising operating costs remain a challenge.
Heartland did not announce new driver pay rates in this financial report.
