Einride Tests New AI for Driverless Trucks
Driverless trucks are getting smarter.
On October 21, 2026, Einride announced plans to test NVIDIA's Alpamayo AI system in its self-driving trucks.
The technology can look at road conditions, suggest what a truck should do next, and explain why.
But it won't take control of the truck during the first tests.
Instead, the AI will run in the background while the truck's existing driving system stays in charge.
Engineers will compare its decisions with those made by the current system and human drivers.
Einride plans to begin testing the technology on public roads in the second half of 2027.
What This Means for CDL Drivers
Companies are working to make driverless trucks handle more difficult road situations.
Einride is already running autonomous freight operations, but this new AI technology is still being tested.
It is not ready for widespread use.
