US-101 Closed in San Francisco

California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced a major weekend closure of US-101 in San Francisco.

The closure began at 11 PM on Friday, October 16, 2026, and is scheduled to continue until 6 AM on Monday, October 19.

All southbound lanes are closed between Cesar Chavez Street and 17th Street. One northbound lane is also closed.

The closure is part of a pavement repair project near Hospital Curve.

Caltrans recommends using I-280 South as an alternate route.

What This Means for CDL Drivers

Truck drivers traveling through San Francisco should expect delays and changes to traffic patterns.

Drivers should plan alternate routes, allow extra travel time, and verify that detours are suitable for commercial trucks.
