CBP Finds $6 Million in Cocaine Hidden Under Empty Semi-Trailer Floor

An empty trailer wasn't really empty.

CBP officers at the Lewiston Bridge in New York found about 450 pounds of suspected cocaine hidden inside a modified trailer floor. The commercial truck was heading from the United States toward Canada on September 22.

Officers first noticed modifications to the floor. A CBP canine alerted to narcotics, and a scan later revealed anomalies underneath. A search uncovered 174 vacuum-sealed packages that field-tested positive for cocaine.

CBP estimated the shipment's street value at about $6 million. The case was referred to Homeland Security Investigations in Buffalo for further investigation.
