Used Truck Prices Jump 19% at Ryder

By CDLCrewEditorial standards

Buying a used truck is getting more expensive.

On October 22, 2026, Ryder reported that its average used tractor selling prices rose 19% compared with the third quarter of last year.

Prices for other used trucks increased 5%.

Ryder also reported stronger demand for truck rentals. Its rental fleet was used 77% of the time, compared with 70% a year earlier.

The company now plans to spend $500 million on its rental fleet in 2026, up from its earlier plan of $200 million.

What This Means for CDL Drivers

If you're an owner-operator shopping for a used truck, keep an eye on prices.

But the 19% increase comes from Ryder's own sales. It doesn't mean every used truck in America costs 19% more.
