$2 Million Cargo Theft Scheme Used Real Trucking Companies

The loads were picked up — but never delivered.

A federal jury convicted two men for participating in a cargo theft scheme that caused at least $2 million in losses. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, the operation used legitimate trucking companies to obtain real freight contracts and pick up loads from warehouses.

Instead of delivering the freight, the cargo was diverted and stolen. The stolen goods included televisions, laptops, solar panels, appliances, LED lights, shoes and tires.

The thefts involved warehouses across Southern California and in Grand Prairie, Texas. The scheme operated from March 2024 through June 2025.
