Old Dominion Freight Line and Werner Enterprises plan to spend more money on trucks, trailers, buildings, and technology.
Old Dominion increased its 2026 spending plan by $115 million. The company now expects to spend about $380 million this year.
Some of that money will go toward new trucks and trailers. The company also plans to buy property and improve its service centers.
Werner Enterprises also raised its spending plan. The company now expects to spend between $215 million and $250 million in 2026.
Werner plans to replace older trucks and trailers and invest in technology and buildings. Newer equipment can help reduce repairs, improve fuel use, and make trucks more comfortable for drivers.
Both companies say they are preparing for stronger freight demand in the future. The moves are another sign that some large trucking companies believe the freight market could improve going into 2027.
