Ohio Adding More Than 1,400 Truck Parking Spaces

Truck drivers in Ohio are getting more places to legally park as the state expands truck parking along major freight routes.

Ohio has launched a $150 million initiative to add more than 1,400 truck parking spaces at 33 locations statewide. Projects include locations in Warren and Clermont counties near the Cincinnati region.

The shortage is especially noticeable along major freight corridors including I-70, I-71, I-75, I-76, the Ohio Turnpike and U.S. 35.

Transportation officials say the lack of legal parking has pushed some truck drivers onto highway shoulders and interstate ramps, creating safety concerns for drivers and other motorists.
