Kentucky has temporarily relaxed certain trucking rules after severe storms caused widespread damage and power outages in the northern part of the state.
Commercial drivers hauling emergency supplies such as fuel, food, water, medical goods, livestock feed, and materials needed to restore utilities are exempt from normal hours-of-service limits and weigh station stops.
Drivers using the waiver must still follow other safety regulations and keep a copy of the emergency order in the truck. The exemption is scheduled to remain in effect for up to 14 days or until the state of emergency ends.
