FMCSA Lets Fuel Haulers Drive Up to 16 Hours

Fuel haulers have temporary relief from normal HOS limits.

FMCSA has issued a nationwide waiver for interstate drivers transporting gasoline and diesel fuel. Eligible drivers may drive up to 16 hours within a 24-hour period while the waiver is in effect.

Drivers using the waiver must meet specific rest requirements. They need at least six consecutive hours in a sleeper berth, or eight consecutive hours off duty if the vehicle does not have a sleeper berth.

Drivers must carry a paper or electronic copy of the waiver. The temporary relief remains in effect through December 16, 2026.
