FedEx Freight Revenue Rises, Shipments Fall

By CDLCrewEditorial standards

FedEx Freight is making more money, but moving fewer shipments.

On October 29, 2026, FedEx Freight released its first financial results as an independent company.

Revenue increased 9.2% to $3.3 billion during the four months ending September 30, compared with the same period last year.

But the average number of shipments per working day dropped 1.4%.

The company earned 10.1% more per shipment, largely because of higher fuel surcharges and heavier loads.

FedEx Freight also reported a 16.4% increase in adjusted operating income.

What This Means for CDL Drivers

Higher company revenue does not always mean more freight or more jobs.

FedEx Freight is earning more per shipment, but freight volume remains soft. Drivers should not assume that higher revenue means higher pay.
