Nearly 2,000 Tickets Issued to Commercial Drivers During Safety Week

Commercial motor vehicle drivers received 1,956 tickets and 3,409 warnings during the 2026 Operation Safe Driver Week, according to results released by CVSA.

Law enforcement agencies from 36 U.S. states, seven Canadian provinces and Mexico participated in the July 12-18 enforcement campaign.

Speeding was the most frequently cited unsafe driving behavior. Commercial drivers received 342 speeding citations, 270 citations for not wearing a seat belt and 136 for texting or using a handheld device while driving.

Officers also issued commercial drivers 319 citations for failing to obey traffic control devices and 23 for following too closely.
