New York City Truck Route Changes Take Effect October 4

Truck drivers operating in New York City need to check their routes as major changes to the city's official truck route network take effect October 4.
NYC DOT completed the first major redesign of the truck network since the 1970s. The changes add, remove and modify designated truck routes across the five boroughs, with the goal of moving more truck traffic away from residential streets and toward highways and industrial areas.
Drivers are required to follow the city's Local and Through Truck Route networks depending on their origin and destination. Trucks may leave a designated route when necessary to reach a destination, using the most direct route.
NYC DOT has published an official list and map of the changes. A fully updated truck route map is expected in 2027.
