$1 Billion for Safer Roads and Truck Parking

By CDLCrewEditorial standards

More money is coming for safer roads and truck parking across America!

On October 29, 2026, the U.S. Department of Transportation announced $1.01 billion in funding for 297 road safety projects.

The projects cover all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and Tribal communities.

Ten projects will help address the shortage of truck parking.

For example, Fort Collins, Colorado, will receive $5.2 million for several safety improvements, including a study of truck parking shortages along I-25.

The funding will also improve dangerous intersections, railroad crossings, and emergency response services.

What This Means for CDL Drivers

Finding safe truck parking is a daily problem for many drivers.

These projects could eventually make roads safer and help drivers find better places to stop and rest.

But the money has only been awarded. The new parking spaces are not open yet, and some projects are still in the planning stage.
