Six Trucking Companies Sue C.H. Robinson and TQL

Six trucking companies say unfair competition cost them millions in freight business.

The carriers filed a federal lawsuit in Texas against major freight brokers C.H. Robinson and Total Quality Logistics. The lawsuit alleges the brokers worked with carriers that the plaintiffs describe as illegal or “chameleon carriers,” allowing them to move freight at rates compliant trucking companies struggled to match.

One plaintiff, Freymiller, claims it lost $51.2 million in sales involving 63 customers. The lawsuit includes claims under the federal RICO law.

The allegations have not been proven in court. C.H. Robinson disputes the claims and says the lawsuit mischaracterizes the freight market and its carrier-selection practices.
