I-80 West in Iowa to Close Overnight for Five Nights, October 11–16

Truck drivers traveling westbound on Interstate 80 near West Des Moines, Iowa, should prepare for five consecutive overnight closures beginning Sunday, October 11.

According to the Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT), westbound I-80 between the Southwest Mixmaster interchange and Grand Prairie Parkway (Exit 118) will close nightly from 8:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. The final closure is scheduled to end Friday morning, October 16, weather permitting.

The closures will also affect westbound I-80 entrance ramps at the Southwest Mixmaster, 60th Street (Exit 122) and Jordan Creek Parkway (Exit 121). Crews will perform grading and concrete pavement work. Drivers should follow the marked detour using University Avenue and Grand Prairie Parkway.

Iowa DOT warns that traffic fines for moving violations are at least doubled in construction zones. Truck drivers should allow extra travel time, follow posted speed limits and check Iowa 511 for updated road conditions.
