I-94 in Minneapolis to Close in Both Directions for Two Nights

Truck drivers traveling through Minneapolis, Minnesota, should prepare for overnight closures of Interstate 94 at the Lowry Hill Tunnel on October 12 and 13.

According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), both directions of I-94 will close from 10 p.m. Monday, October 12, to 5 a.m. Tuesday, October 13. The same closure will take place from 10 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday, October 14.

Westbound traffic will be detoured through Hennepin Avenue and Lyndale Avenue. Eastbound drivers will use the Lyndale Avenue South exit to reconnect with I-94. Several connecting ramps from I-35W, Highway 55 and I-394 will also close.

Crews will clean the tunnel, remove debris and repair guardrails. Truck drivers should allow extra travel time and check Minnesota 511 before entering the area. The schedule may change due to weather.
