I-65 in Nashville to Close in Both Directions for Weekend Bridge Demolition

Truck drivers traveling through Nashville, Tennessee, should prepare for a complete closure of Interstate 65 in both directions during the October 16–19 weekend.

According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT), I-65 will close between the I-40 interchange (Exit 210) and the I-440 interchange (Exit 80), beginning Friday, October 16, at 8 p.m. The closure is necessary to demolish the damaged bridge deck on Hamilton Avenue.

Additional restrictions are scheduled for Thursday, October 8, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Southbound I-65 will have intermittent lane closures, including a complete shutdown for approximately 30 minutes around midnight to remove overhead signs.

TDOT will provide an official detour route during the full closure. Truck drivers should expect delays, plan alternate routes and check TDOT SmartWay for current conditions. Nighttime lane closures will continue after the weekend as crews rebuild the bridge deck. Repairs are expected to finish in early December.
